The University of Ontario Institute of Technology is the first of two post-secondary institutions in Oshawa. It is mainly a technology-oriented facility, as its name suggests. In reality, it is the province's only university that is solely based on laptops, requiring students to rent a laptop from the school. Durham College is the second, an educational institution that focuses on providing students with useful skills in one of the trades.
