Pickering MLS® Listings & Real Estate For Sale

Pickering is one of Ontario's smaller cities, with a population of about 91,771 people and a land area of approximately 231 square kilometres. While it may not be high now, many analysts expect that by 2030, the population will be close to 200,000.Its sluggish growth to date can be due to the city's limits on developing properties in the city's northern reaches.
Energy generation has become a huge part of the economy that is driving Pickering's prosperity, with four nuclear reactors in operation since the early 1970s.With decommissioning scheduled for 2020, the city needed to pursue new sources of economic development and stability. This is why, in the manufacturing sector, especially in pharmaceuticals and electronics, there has been a strong takeover by employers.
Pickering has gained a reputation as one of the best places in Canada to start and develop a business in the last decade or so.Expect to see substantial growth and development of Pickering's economy as companies from all sectors compete to create a position in this small city, with direct access to major Canadian highways, some of the lowest business tax rates in the Greater Toronto Area, an extremely qualified labour force that is massive in number, and (almost ironically) the amount of vacant land and space available.

Pickering Real Estate Trends and Information

One of the factors why business people consider Pickering is the exceptionally high quality of life that each and every aspect of the city offers. Pickering's real estate market is beginning to gain some significant momentum for a number of reasons, including cultural diversity, relatively low crime rates, well-maintained parks, and much more.
East Pickerington has a wide selection of housing options. Apartments for sale at reasonable prices, low-rise and high-rise condos for all budgets, semi-detached townhomes, completely detached residential homes, fully attached townhomes, and the occasional bungalow are all available for rent. While the age of these houses differs, the majority of them have a new exterior and interior finish. Many residents are proud of these homes not only because of their appearance, but also because of their proximity to some of the city's key amenities.
In comparison to the eastern area, West Pickerington is more suburban. The majority of the homes you'll see here are detached homes, semi-attached townhomes, and the occasional land lot for larger, multi-thousand-square-foot homes. In terms of crime, this area is much more reserved, which results in mostly quiet neighbourhoods. For those raising large families, this seems to be the preferred choice.

Exploring Pickering

Entertainment in Pickering, Ontario Image

Don't be fooled by Pickering's low population and limited land area; there are plenty of things to do and see in this neighbourhood! Throughout the year, the recreational centres and city parks hold a variety of activities. Every month, the city adds a new calendar to its website so that residents can see what's going on at a park or arena near them. Some of the activities, such as the Rotary Ribfest and the Pickering Farmer's Market, are seasonal and only happen once a year, so staying up to date is important.

Those searching for some outdoor activities may find a vast variety of hiking trails and bike paths to choose from. For those who want to try their hand at another difficult round of 18 holes, there are four different golf courses to choose from. Finally, there are a number of small local boutiques that sell a variety of interesting pieces. You'll have a hard time finding them somewhere else!

Education in Pickering, Ontario Image

Pickering does not have any post-secondary institutions at this time. Pickering's place, which offers access to prestigious universities such as the University of Toronto and York University, is not seen as a disadvantage. If they want to continue their education after high school, the majority of Pickering students leave the area.

There are currently 17 elementary schools (K–8) in the area, with eight of them affiliated with the Catholic school board. There are three schools in the city that are specifically dedicated to Montessori education for those few parents who choose to provide their child with this form of education. Elizabeth B. Phin, William Dunbar, and Maple Ridge are notable schools for academic achievement and excellence.
